How does a virtual escape room work?

The benefit of a virtual escape room is that you can do it from the comfort of your own home, and at your own pace. Once you visit our shop and purchase one of our games you will be sent a set of instructions on how to access the game. Each game has it's own clues page to help you if you get stuck.

How many people can play?

This one is up to you. You're welcome to use FaceTime, Messenger, Whatsapp, Zoom, Skype or any other video calling method to work with your team members if they're in a different location. We recommend you only have a maximum of 6 people playing at once.

We're not able to access the site to start our game :(

Visit www.christmascrisis.evadere.co.uk for Christmas Crisis

Visit www.asecondchance.evadere.co.uk for A Second Chance

Visit www.thechair.evadere.co.uk for The Chair

For our other games, please contact help@evadere.co.uk as they are played via our chatbot.

Just click the link above for the game that you bought, and you will need to enter the PIN as the password when the 'Guest Area' page appears and asks for a password.

Can we play on an iPad or tablet?

The games are designed for a laptop or PC. Playing on an iPad or tablet will not give you the best experience. However, the puzzles are all still accessible via an iPad so if you're keen, you're welcome to give it a go!

Are the gift cards physical or virtual?

All of our gift cards are virtual and sent via email. Once purchased, you are able to schedule the gift email to be sent to the recepient at the chosen day and time.

Psst, it's Molly MerryBottom from Santa's Squad!

Email christmaseveoperatingsystem@gmail.com to get the password!

If I buy the game now, do I have to play straight away?

No, once you've bought the game you can play it at any time. However, it is important that you keep the instructions that we sent you following your purchase safe. This is your code to enter the game, so without it, you'll find it difficult!

What ages are the games for?

It depends on the game. For 'A Second Chance', 'Operation London: Legend' and 'The Chair', those younger than 16 will find it tricky. However, 'Christmas Crisis', 'Elf Detective Unit' and 'Operation London: Newbie' is family friendly and players of all ages will enjoy something from it.

All of our games need to be led by a group which is largely adult as they aren’t designed exclusively for children. ‘Elf Detective Unit’ is our easiest game so if you’ve got young ones, their best chance is helping you with this one!

When we do start designing games for children, we’ll make sure they’re at the centre of the design, build and testing!

We certainly don't have any upper age limit, so feel free to get anyone involved.

Can we play with friends via video call?

Absolutely, that is exactly what the games were designed for! Just Zoom, FaceTime, or use any other video call to connect with your friends or family in a different household.

What do I do if I have a problem?

We know how frustrating it can be when you just want to play your escape room. If you unfortunately get a problem, then we want to fix it as soon as possible. If it's about your purchase of the game then drop us an email on help@evadere.co.uk and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. If it's about the gameplay then the clues page will be the first place to start. Failing that, drop us a message over on our Facebook page as we're always keen to help!

What do the games look like?

Unlike many other Virtual Escape Rooms, we custom build the game into a bespoke website. We want you to have the best experience, so we've decided not to use generic sites such as Google Forms. The puzzles will be given on webpages and you'll have to figure out the clues to get the right password. Entering it correctly will move you to the next part of the story. However, our newer games are played via a unique online chatbot. You'll communicate throughout the game with a fictional character. They will help you through the game and you'll solve puzzle together.

What will I need to play?

We've made our games as easy as possible to play. You'll need access to a computer or laptop, unfortunately our games don't work so well on a mobile device. You'll also need a pen and paper. But that's it! No printer. No waiting for resources to arrive in the post.

Do we have a time limit to complete the games?

No, you can play at your own pace! We won't be checking in on you, or keeping an eye on how long you take. The game is yours to enjoy at your leisure, unless you want to play against the clock, of course!

What are the minimum computer requirements?

Our game is simply a series of webpages, so it'll be accessible from any laptop or PC that has access to the internet.

Can we leave the game and come back to it another day?

Yes, once you've purchased the game, it's yours to play at any time. If you need to leave the game for whatever reason, that's not a problem. Just keep the instructions from when you first logged in and you can re-access the game. You might need to put the passwords in that you've already solved to get to the same point you were at!

Are you able to do large group bookings?

Yes, head to our Work Place Booking Page for more information. The minimum is 25 in a group.

Can we cast the game via Google Chromecast or similar?

Yes, absolutely! Just cast the game from your PC or laptop as you usually would any other internet page.
